In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Apex; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in North Carolina are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 11 am–2:30 pm. Apex is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Apex is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across North Carolina's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

A hidden gem! Very Basic – No frills - The food quality is top-notch. You can genuinely taste the care and authenticity in every dish. The Dumplings are an absolute must-try—hands down one of the best I’ve ever had. On this visit, our food group had various dishes and all dishes were plentiful and incredibly fresh, tender, and bursting with flavor. If you’re looking for truly authentic Chinese cuisine, look no further!

I’ve been here many times, and the food quality has always been consistently excellent. The dishes are very authentic, and you can tell they put a lot of care into every meal. The Chongqing-style spicy chicken is absolutely amazing—hands down one of the best I’ve ever had! This time I also tried the green peppercorn fish, and the fish slices were incredibly fresh, tender, and full of flavor. Every visit has been a great experience. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for authentic Chinese cuisine!

This is the best food I've had in a long time. On top of that, it took maybe 3 minutes for our food to come out. Kimchi was so good I asked to take a giant tub of it home. AMAZING.

Mr. Dumpling is definitely worth a visit, especially if you’re into bold flavors. The dumplings were really good and probably the highlight of the meal. We also tried the beef tripe appetizer, which is served cold with a generous amount of chili oil. If you like that numbing, spicy kick, you’ll probably love it—it’s packed with flavor. The tofu dish was tasty too, but like the tripe, it came with quite a bit of chili oil. While the flavor was great, it ended up being a little too oily for our personal taste. Overall, a solid spot with some standout dishes—just be ready for a heavier hand on the chili oil if that’s not usually your thing.

This is a very cute mom n pop. The atmosphere is humble but the food is quite authenticly Sichuan, you can smell the peppers as soon as you walk in. We had lunch and sampled their their dumplings. This is not a dim sum house by any means, but they do have dumplings. I wish they wouldn't use food coloring, but outside of that they are made to order and they excel at their delicate wrappers. The chili wontons (medium spicy) were very tasty, not spicy at all and was surprisingly sweet. I guess that's a southern touch. We orders the beef pastry and the scallion pancakes, these were very greasy, they need to work on that a little but the flavors were good. We'd like to come back and try their dinner items, some of the dishes coming out of the kitchen looked outstanding!
